Learning About the Life Cycle

Meet our caterpillars! They arrived in our classroom on about Wednesday, September 12th.

By the about Tuesday, the 18th, they had moved their way to the top of the container
and formed their chrysalis.
So we moved them to their new habitat.
By Monday, the 24th we had butterflies! They are called "Painted Ladies."
They were very active in their mesh home, so we figured it was time to set them free.

Today, Thursday, the 27th, after watching their 2+ week life cycle,
we let our butterflies fly freely outside!

It was sad to see them go, but what a fun way to learn about the life cycle!

Welcome!!

Welcome to another school year! We have just finished our first week. I am so anxious to dive into learning with my class this year. I've already discovered that they are excited about reading. This is such a great foundation to begin with and I plan to continue to build this excitment with great stories and lessons.

We've taken a few math pre-tests, so I'm learning about your students' math needs. It's important for students to practice their basic facts at home, if they are unsure of them. We will start with our first math standard next week, which requires students to find the correct quotient in a long division problem. Their answers will include remainers as fractions and decimals.

Again, I'm looking forward to another awesome school year. Please email or call me with any questions or concerns. It's a privilege to be your child's teacher.
